Even before the introduction of 3G services in India, Mobile Savvy Indians have overtaken Chinese in using the GPRS based Internet services on their smart phones. This comes as a surprise to us that China which began its Wireless Communication revolution a decade ahead of India and has also introduced 3G and still losing the battle to India.

According to Opera, Russia and Indoensia lead India in the usage of Opera browser. [The report is based only on the suage of Opera browser, but still we didn't expect India to beat China as they are assumed to be far ahead in the Wireless race in Asia]Indians had an average page view of 375 / month and the most sought after sites by Indians from their mobile handsets are,
  • Google
  • Orkut
  • Gmail
  • Yahoo
  • Wikipedia
  • Facebook

Clearly Indians are in love with Google properties. The surprise Winner in the past quarter is Facebook which has gained traction at the cost of other social networks in India.

Gmail Drag + Drop for Labels goes Live

Thursday, July 02, 2009

Google's Email System since going Beta has changed the way users communicate. In a step towards taking Gmail towards Unified Communication, the Engineering Team rolled out Drag and Drop facilities around Labels [Folders or Link from Unix OS].

You can now drag and drop any e-mail from your Inbox to any of the Labels you have created.
Gmail by default will show you two of the Labels and then a More Link. From the More Link you can drag and drop as many labels as you want that need to be always visible on the Left Pane. OR Alternatively, you can goto Settings-Labels and enable which of the Labels to be shown on the Side pane so that instead of choosing it from the Drop Box, you can directly drag it to the Label available on the Left pane.

Truly unseen user experience with use of AJAX and other Web technologies.
