Airtel kicks off ILD Rate War

If Reliance officials are busy releasing cheaper mobile handsets to penetrate into rural India hurting themselves of ARPUs. Bharti Airtel, exactly after 10 months has nearly halved the rates on its International calling cards from Rs 3.50 / Minute to Rs 1.99 / Minute to US and Canada. Available only to Airtel Mobile customers.

Bharti Airtel has also kicked off another battle to take RCOM head on by launching lifetime prepaid with an entry fee as low as Rs 495. Hutch and others have no choice but to reduce their rates as well.

BSNL launches Online Customer Care Portal

State Owned BSNL is trying hard to woo its customers in the era of Free Markets. BSNL has lets its users pay bills online [Please don't ask about security]

Just a while ago BSNL launched customer care portal for Rajasthan, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh circles. You can log on to BSNL customer care portal here. Services that can be availed of BSNL Customer care portal are as follows.
  • Apply for a New Landline or Cell Phone connection
  • Application for shifting Landline phone
  • Registration for Broadband
  • Requests for Hotline, Hunting Line, Call Transfer, Conference Facility, SMS Phone, Cordless Phone With Clip etc
Previously I have tried Airtel and Reliance customer care using portal and had a terrible experience.

Microsoft after struggling for 4 years has introduced one service before Google did - Windows Live Folder. This is not really an original idea of Microsoft but that of FolderShare which Microsoft acquired.

Basically Windows Live Folder is a Web Service that will give every user 500 MB of Web Space FREE to store and share your files on the WWW. Files can be Private or Shared for Public viewing. All you need is a web browser to store and access your files. Get started now here at your own Risk because when I tried I got ton of errors. You may also be at the risk of exposing your data to hackers :-)

Demand ubuntu Linux with Dell Machines

The next time when you BUY a laptop or PC, demand ubuntu Linux with it. Kiss goodbye to expensive Microsoft Software.

Dell just a while ago announced on its blog the availability of ubuntu Linux with its hardware. You can check out Dell's page here. In China Naked PCs [Just the Hardware and absolutely no junk software] are the highest sold PCs.

Apart from Dell, HP-Compaq in India sell almost naked PCs [Just has DOS and nothing else] I own a Compaq Presario desktop and is doing extremely well. Donwload ubuntu linux OS here.
