Mobile entertainment for Indian Teens and Kids - Comics go Mobile

Thursday, November 23, 2006

The next time you go for a long drive, just remember to carry your mobile car charger and load your mobile with Indian novels like Amar Chitra Khata which will keep your kid entertained.

Yes that's right, The first Indian mobile novel Neelakannukal (Blue Eyes) has been written in Malayalam and distributed free to 600 mobile users on a trial basis. The concept had a wide acceptance and several publishers are now in talks with cellular operators to make it available on demand.

Mobile2Win, a cell phone content developer is m-enabling several comics and novels. This was first introduced in Japan and that market is way ahead of India. They also have big plans for localization.

The only drawback and problems users faced in reading NeelaKannukal was that it was distributed on Java platform and several phones were not Java enabled and several phones hung upon opening the same. Ufff!! Java! Maybe they must port a mobile comic reader to a non-Java version compatible with Symbian OS.

Days are not far when your early morning newspaper and your weekly magazines are delivered to you on your mobile.
